A charity college for adults with extra learning needs is putting out a plea for an oven and hob after they were given a designer kitchen worth £20,000.

FACET has been given the new kitchen plus tiles and much of the equipment needed to install it.

However, they need some extra help with the extra items needed.

Linda Ingram, chief executive for FACET, said: “This fabulous brand new kitchen has just been donated to local charity FACET by a major retailer and we believe its value to be in the region of £20,000.

“Local company M&W Ceramics has also been kind enough to donate 15 boxes of tiles, plus all the cement, grout, spacers and edging strips we need, and we are exceedingly grateful to them for their kind support.

“However, sadly the ovens and hob were not included as part of the kitchen and we are really keen to achieve additional support to help cover these costs.

“We are in the process of installing the units ourselves in our main training kitchen in order to keep the costs down.

“We’ve also had our plumber and electrician in to alter the plumbing and electrics, but we really need a few additional units and work surface, to create a central island at which our staff and students can work.

“Also the ovens and hob. We would be really grateful if local people and businesses would make donations however small to help support us with this work.

“We are very proud of our five star food hygiene rating and the work we do to support our students with learning and other disabilities to achieve a catering and hospitality qualification or simply to improve their Independent Living Skills.

“Our kitchen is used on a daily basis to provide lunches for our staff and students and well as running other sessions tailored to the individual needs of our students.”
