Students at FACET charity education centre in March received a huge boost this week as they opened up a brand new kitchen at their Marwick Road centre.

The college catering course has been awarded an impressive five stars from the Food Standards Agency for the last two years but the kitchen was in need of an update to help ensure that this success could continue.

With the support of both Howdens in March and local specialists M&W Ceramics the students will now be able to work in a beautiful new kitchen which includes all the mod-cons required to support the students with the catering qualification they are working towards.

Centre Manager Kris Harrold said: “The Catering department is a huge part of FACET and we have some really talented chefs within our student base.

“I am so grateful for the help of two such generous companies’ support which now means we can now offer the students a lovely new kitchen to work in, everyone is so excited to get cooking.”

Howdens Manager John Maiden said: “Howdens is always happy to help local charities as we are given a small pot of funding each year, so as soon as such a deserving charity such as FACET approached us it was an easy decision, we are very proud to be working together on this project”.

FACET currently has more than 120 students and offers a huge range of courses from Monday to Friday including woodwork and horticulture as well as more traditional educational classes such as maths, English, science and sports.
