Families get together for school Christingle service in Wisbech

A CANDLE-LIT rendition of the popular carol Away in a Manger was the dramatic finale of a Christingle service held by Nene Infant and Nursery School, Wisbech.

The annual service was hosted by St Peter’s Church in Wisbech and took place after the school day so the whole school community could get together to celebrate Christmas.

During the service, pupils sang songs as the word Christmas was spelt out at the front of the church.

The Mayor of Wisbech, Councillor Vivien MacRae, attended the event along with her consort and the Town Beadle, Alister Hopkins.

Headteacher Karen Crawley said: “I was very pleased that so many families could attend,” and parish priest Father Paul West said the singing by candlelight was “stunning”.
