Families waiting to move into homes on a March estate are invited to a short notice meeting with housing association Sanctuary

After already going nine months overdue with the finish date, Sanctuary Housing have called a short notice meeting for next week to talk through the building programme with 52 families waiting to move into their new homes at Gaul Road in March.

In a letter sent to residents Sanctuary said: “We recognise that you may have difficulties in arranging child care at such short notice and will be providing a room with additional space for any children to play during the meeting.

“Since taking over the management of the site, our development team has been working hard to assess the remaining works and time scales for completion and are well on track in drawing up their construction programme which we would like to discuss with you next week.”

The meeting takes place on Friday September 4 at 1.30pm at the March Community Centre in Station Road.

About 40 residents met Sanctuary Housing directors at a public meeting in August but instead of receiving a moving-in date, the families, many of whom have been forced to live out of suitcases, some cramped into the rooms of relatives and friends, were given no guarantee the development will be finished before Christmas.

At that meeting Simon Clark, Sanctuary group director of housing and supplies, said: “At our last meeting with residents, we promised to keep the families who have been allocated a new home on Gaul Road regularly informed of progress at the site.

“On Friday we’ll be discussing the headway we have made since then as well as the next steps involved in the programme.

“We will also introduce some of the key members of our team who are now leading on the project and immediately after the meeting we will write to all families to ensure those unable to attend are kept fully informed.”
