Wendy Ransome, 59, together with nine-year-old Ebonie Beecham and her sister Rowan, 5, are having their long hair cut off to donate to the Little Princess Trust, the charity which specialises in making wigs for children who have lost their own hair through cancer and other illnesses.

Mrs Ransome, of Gaul Road, explained: “We all have really long hair, which grows really quickly. I have only just heard of the charity, which is a shame because I would have done this many times before over the years.

“When I spoke to the girls about it they said would like to do it too. So we are planning to have it done next month and will be setting up a page for people to sponsor us.”
