A GAS engineer will down his tools and enter a boxing ring to raise money for lifesaving charity Magpas.
Tony ‘The Fearless’ Daplyn, of Skanska Utilites, March, will join 13 other ‘novices’ by taking part in the white collar boxing event at London’s York Hall on December 9.
The ‘Magpas’ team, made up of boxers from Cambridgeshire, will take on a select London squad with fighters wearing groin protectors, gloves and head guards.
Wayne Stickler-Singh, the team’s trainer, said: “All the fighters are putting incredible time and effort into raising their fitness levels.
“They’re training three to four times a week and I’m really proud of what they’ve achieved.
Each fight will be three rounds of two minutes and tickets cost 45 (ringside), 35 (balcony) and 25 (stalls).
