Tributes were paid today to Liz McMillan who collapsed in the centre of March last week and who later died in hospital.

Liz worked for Fenland District Council and the tributes were led by chief executive Paul Medd and council leader John Clark.

In an email to councillors and staff they said: “It is with much sorrow that we must inform you that Liz McMillan sadly passed away on Friday afternoon.

“Liz was taken seriously ill on Wednesday when she collapsed at work and was taken to Addenbrooke’s hospital.

“She did not regain consciousness and sadly passed away, surrounded by her family. “We are sure all of our thoughts are with Liz’s family and friends at this very sad time, including Liz’s daughter Tanya Shepherd, who worked in member services until very recently.”

They added that details of Liz’s funeral will be circulated when they have been confirmed.

“Liz was a dedicated officer and a friend to many, and we know that she will be greatly missed,” said the council tribute.
