A FENLAND couple celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary with more than 50 members of their family at the weekend.

Bill and Joy Mullenger, from March, who have 25 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, toasted 60 years of marriage with a party at the Oliver Cromwell Hotel.

Bill, 80, married Joy, 78, in Scotland in 1951 after meeting her while he was on national service. The couple went on to have six children and moved to March around 20 years ago.

Fred Mullenger, their son, said: “They were a bit overwhelmed by the number of people that were there but it was a great night.

“They got a card from the Queen, which they were showing off at the party. They were very proud of that. For them to see all their grandchildren and great-grandchildren at once was brilliant.”
