MORE than 40 dogs were microchipped at a Fenland pet store when it hosted staff from Wood Green Animal Shelter.
It was the first time The Pet Shop in March hosted Wood Green to microchip dogs, but the event was so successful it is now set to be held every three months.
Dog owners made donations to Wood Green for having their pet chipped. More than 200 was raised and will be used for general upkeep at the shelter in Godmanchester.
Rob Phipps, owner of the store in Station Road, said: “I am stunned by the turnout, considering the size of the shop. We had several dog owners arrive 30 minutes before the microchipping started.”
Tomorrow, The Pet Shop holds a rescue day in aid of American Bulldog Rescue at its warehouse in Marina Drive, March. Rescue dogs will be there looking for new homes and Mr Phipps will offer behaviour advice.
