BUILDING control applications can now be submitted electronically thanks to a new system which has been installed at Fenland Council.Submit-A-Plan allows clients to complete on-line application forms, attach relevant drawings or documents and then track their application through the system. It will accept any format and will save both time and money for the client as well as being simple to use.Applications can be submitted 24 hours a day, seven days a week which means plans can be dealt with more quickly. All contact between the building control team and the client will be by e-mail which will also speed up the process.Building control receives about 1,000 applications annually and aims to deal with 10 per cent of those electronically within a year.Building control manager Nick Seaton said: "I am delighted we can now offer our clients this excellent service which will greatly benefit them immediately, and our team in the long term, as eventually all our files will be scanned in electronically."There will be a link to the new service on the Fenland Council website within a couple of weeks and guidance on how to use they system. For further details click on www.fenland.gov.uk
