Fenland is putting the boot in for fitness with a series of get lean schemes and bootcamps.

The fitness drive is part of Fenland District Council’s commitment to encourage people to take up sport and get fit for life.

As part of the programme the council has worked with Living Sport which is Cambridgeshire and Peterborough’s county sport partnership.

Formed in 2006 it aims to raise the profile of sport and encourage people to get involved as a community.

In the past year Fenland councillors have become involved in improving their partnership with Living Sport and have delivered three sportivate workshops and held a successful disability multi-sport event.

Also on the get fit list was a 10-week programme called the get lean scheme which included exercise and nutrition.

Most popular venue for the classes was Chatteris, according to a report.

Motiv8 Bootcamps were also held through out the summer with Wisbech Park as the venue for a series of evening work out sessions.

The sessions have now been rolled out as part of the Hudson Leisure Centre fitness class programme for the winter period.

“This has not only provided a new and fresh class to the programme it has also provided the opportunity to support a fledgling business ensuring a close working partnership in the future,” according to a report which went before the cabinet and corporate management team.
