NINETEEN Guides and their leaders enjoyed the thrills and spills of Chessington World of Adventures on the first trip of their new unit.
The girls from the Manea unit, all aged 10-14, spent a day exploring the sights and sounds of the Surrey theme park. All of them made their Guide Promise on different rides around the adventure park, including the thrilling rollercoaster, Vampire and log flume, Dragon Falls.
Guide leader Alex Robinson said: “The tickets were donated to the guides and they raised the money to pay for the coach. All the girls decided it would be a day to remember if they all took their Promise.
“Giving all our girl members the chance to take up experiences like this is what’s so great about guiding.”
Since the unit opened in May this year, guides have completed a range of challenges including Go For It Green. Next term they will take part in Manea Marathon and join in with a guide sleepover in Doddington.
Two years ago there were no guiding groups in the village but thanks to a team of volunteers more than 50 girls aged five to 14 are now experiencing the fun and adventure that guiding has to offer. Rainbow, brownie and guide groups meet weekly in the village.
