SOME of Britain’s greatest military planes - the Harrier jets - were captured over the skies of Cambridgeshire by a Fenland photographer as they completed one of their last flights.

The 16 Harrier GR9 jets were photographed by Mark Handley, of Wimblington, as they flew over airfields including RAF Wittering and RAF Wyton.

People gathered across the county to watch the jets, capable of reaching top speeds of more than 600mph, take one of their final bows last Thursday.

The government announced it was scrapping the Harrier planes as part of its Strategic Defence Review in October. Their final flight is today.
