YOUNGSTERS at a Fenland primary school excitedly waved handmade flags this week as the countdown to London 2012 continues.
Pupils at Cavalry Primary School in March joined forces on Tuesday to celebrate it being just 500 days until the Olympics begin next July. Around 334 pupils designed replica flags of each country that will be represented at the Games.
Damien Homden, the school’s joint pe co-ordinator said: “The event was all about getting the pupils excited about 2012.
“It also gives them a chance to realise how many countries across the world will be taking part in the event and it also got everyone together as a whole school. The children were really excited.”
Youngsters completed a lap of honour around the school’s playing field to show off their flags.
