A FENLAND primary school’s new fundraising group got off to a flying start last week by raising almost 500 with a pizza and bingo night.
Coates Primary School’s newly-established ‘Fun for Funds’ group hosted the event in the school hall, which was attended by more than 90 people.
Bev Sands, chairman of the fundraising group, said: “We were all a little nervous about this first fundraiser, as we weren’t really sure how successful it would be, but I’m thrilled that so many people came along and it was obvious they were having lots of fun. “The support from local businesses has been overwhelming and we really cannot thank them enough. The pizza was supplied free by Domino’s Pizza in Peterborough and over 20 prizes were donated by a multitude of local companies.”
A school competition was held earlier this year to name the fundraising group with Fun for Funds chosen as the winner. The group is currently raising money to buy new outdoor play equipment for the school, with the pizza and bingo night raising a total of 483.
Fun for Funds thanked all the businesses who supported the event and their compere for the evening Stewart Stevens.
