TWO Fenland roads will be closed at the end of April for street parties to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Cambridgeshire County Council confirmed today that Henson Road in March and Sixth Avenue in Wisbech will be closed on Friday April 29 for celebrations to commemorate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

A total of 34 streets in Cambridgeshire will be closed for street parties.

The county council usually charges 850 for advertising road closures for commercial reasons such as street markets, but it is sticking to its policy of not charging for wedding celebrations which it classes as community events.

A council spokesman said: “We never charge for advertising road closures for community events, which we are treating these as being.”
