FIREFIGHTERS spent more than two hours tackling a deliberate blaze at a cottage in Wisbech last night.

The fire service control room was called shortly after 11.45pm to a fire at a cottage in South Brink.

Crews from Wisbech arrived at the scene within 10 minutes and immediately called for assistance. The turntable ladder from Dogsthorpe and firefighters from March and Outwell were also mobilised.

The cottage was well alight by the time crews arrived. They brought the blaze under control at 2.05am today using hose reels.

A fire service spokeswoman confirmed the fire was started by arsonists.
