JOBSEEKERS and employers throughout Fenland have been given access to a new innovative service with the opening of a Jobcentre Plus in Wisbech.The revamped centre in Albion House was opened last Thursday with a visit by Councillor Carol Cox, mayor of Wisbech.It follows the integration of Wisbech's Social Security Office and Jobcentre, and will offer people advice on both looking for work and on benefit issues.But it also marked an important milestone, not only for Wisbech, but nationally as the latest phase of Jobcentre Plus offices open across the country.Tina Ellis, district manager for Cambridgeshire and Suffolk Jobcentre Plus, said: "Wisbech Jobcentre Plus will provide a complete service to jobseekers and employers."People can obtain advice on working age benefits and meet personal advisers who can provide personalised help on all aspects of work and training opportunities."In addition, our touch-screen jobpoints allow access to nearly half a million vacancies, both national and international, enabling our customers to get all the support they need in one place."Through this new integrated service, Jobcentre Plus will seek to open job opportunities to people who may not be actively looking for work, including people with disabilities, single parents and older people.Ms Ellis added: "Jobcentre Plus is leading the way for work and benefits advice and is already setting an example for other countries throughout Europe and further afield."People wishing to enquire about looking for work or to make new benefit claims should call the Jobcentre Plus telephone contact centre on 0845 603 2451, or for people with hearing impairments, textphone 0845 603 2852.
