CHILDREN from Payne and Leverington Primary Schools battle it out during the “Wis Gets Physical” basketball festival organised by Fenland District Council’s sports development team at Thomas Clarkson Community College in Wisbech last week.
They were among the 10 schools that took part in the Year 3/4 tournament, along with Peckover, Ramnoth, Wisbech St Mary, St Peter’s, Friday Bridge, Elm, Kinderley and Murrow Schools.
Peckover emerged as champions after defeating Ramnoth 2-1 in the final, scoring their winning basket in a frantic last few seconds.
Unfortunately, snow and ice on the roads two days earlier caused the Year 5/6 Festival to be called off. It is hoped it will be rearranged in the new year.
Last week’s event was the third “Wis Gets Physical” festival this year, following ones for hockey and cricket.
