THIS Sunday is Remembrance Day, popularly known as Poppy Day, and the instantly recognisable symbol of respect for those who have died in conflicts past and present will be everywhere in evidence throughout the district.

Fenland District Council’s chairman and vice-chairman will be representing the council at the traditional Remembrance Day parades ceremonies in each of the four market towns.

Councillor Michael Humphrey will be attending the ceremonies in Wisbech in the morning and Chatteris in the afternoon, while Councillor Ken Mayor will be in March first, followed by Whittlesey.

Today, Cllr Humphrey will also be at a special Remembrance Day assembly at Neale-Wade Community College, March. And on Monday he will be laying a wreath at the Veterans Day ceremony at the American Military Cemetery in Madingley at the invitation of RAF Alconbury.
