IT was smiles all round when BBC Radio Cambridgeshire reporter Sue Marchant met Fenland District Council leader Alan Melton and fellow councillor Pop Jolley at Chatteris Leisure on Monday.
Sue was there to record the first of a series of reports on different gyms and leisure centres across the county that were broadcast each day this week on the Jeremy Sallis Show.
She also interviewed Bernadette Gipson and Andy Cornwell from FDC’s leisure staff as well as customers at the centre.
Her verdict? “What a friendly and fabulous place to fight the flab – I loved my morning there!”
Nearly 400 people have signed up for membership at the centre since its opening last year. There have been more than 3,250 visits to the gym and more than 775 to fitness classes.
