FRIDAY October 1 is National Older People’s Day. This year’s theme is “getting and staying active in later life” and throughout October scores of special events are being held in Fenland as part of the month-long “Cambridgeshire Celebrates Age” programme.
Swimming, short mat bowls, table tennis and darts are among the activities planned at Fenland District Council’s three leisure centres. Other energetic events elsewhere include walks and tea dances. But there are also things to exercise the mind – and simply have fun.
Next Thursday, October 7, from 2-4pm the Wimblington Ladies exercise group is putting on a fashion show at March Town Hall where they’ll be modelling clothes by M&Co. And there are lots of social gatherings, including film shows, lunch clubs and talks – even a selection of IT taster courses.
