HOT but not bothered - Isabel Edgington was looking pretty relaxed this week as she put in some last-minute training for the Bupa Great North Run on Sunday.

Fenland District Council’s climate change officer is doing the 13.1-mile half marathon from Newcastle to South Shields to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. She’ll be one of 54,000 runners taking part in the famous race, which is covered live on BBC television and Radio 5 Live. So look out for her – she’ll be the one wearing number 40602.

She said: “I’m not as fit as I should be but I’m determined to make it to the finishing line. I’ve got a friend who suffers from cystic fibrosis and the Trust is a great charity, so I’ll be doing my best for them.”

She said her FDC colleagues had been really supportive – just how supportive she’ll find out next week when she jogs gently (and probably painfully) round their desks to pick up their cash.
