THE hit film Made in Dagenham will launch the Chatteris Community Cinema when it opens at the town’s King Edward Centre on February 5.

Tickets (adults �4, under-16s �3) will be on sale at the centre tomorrow (January 29), 10am-noon, and on Monday and Wednesday (January 31 and February 2), 6-8pm.

Made in Dagenham is a dramatisation of the 1968 strike at the Ford Dagenham car plant, where female workers walked out in protest against sexual discrimination.

The cinema plans to screen at least one film a month, possibly two. On March 5, it will be holding an “Academy Awards Day”, showing Toy Story 3 in the afternoon and The Social Network in the evening..

The cinema is one of the new attractions at the King Edward Centre, which has recently had a �430,000 revamp largely funded by Fenland District Council and Chatteris Town Council. For information, visit www.chatteriscommunitycinema.co.uk
