PROPOSALS to develop a patch of land in Parson Drove to provide affordable housing reserved specifically for local people will be discussed at a public meeting in the village next week.

Draft layout plans for the site next to the doctors’ surgery at Main Road, Church End, will be presented at the meeting in the village hall next Wednesday (October 26), starting at 7.30pm.

The plans have been drawn up by Circle (formerly Circle Anglia), the housing association. They envisage building up to 12 homes people for on modest incomes to rent or buy.

The aim is to help people with strong local connections to remain living in the area. “Local” means someone who has been living in the parish for at least one year, has a strong family connection to the parish or has previously been a resident there, or has been working within the parish for at least a year.

Representatives from Circle and Fenland District Council will be at the meeting to answer any questions. Anyone who cannot attend but would like to comment should contact the parish clerk, Yvonne Reader.
