CHILDREN at Clarkson Infant School in Wisbech are pictured enjoying playtime on board HMS Clarkson, with head teacher Mike English at the helm.

The boat was found for the school last year by Peter Harvey, Fenland District Council’s Harbour Master at the Port of Wisbech.

He had been asked by Sue Barnes, pictured far left, the school’s early years coordinator, if he could track down a suitable vessel to add to its playground equipment.

“The children love it,” said Sue. “They use it for a lot of imaginative play, pretending they are out at sea or fishing from the boat.”

Mr Harvey got the boat from Roy Ashton, from Tydd St Giles, who asked him to find a good home for it. It was renovated and painted for the school by Peterborough-based company Retail Force.
