A NEW workforce is out and about looking after all Fenland District Council’s open spaces, including the district’s cemeteries and Green Flag award-winning parks.
The Landscape Group (TLG) took over the job of grounds maintenance this month after winning a new, five-year contract worth in total about 500,000. It is FDC’s largest outsourced service.
Previously known as English Landscapes, the company has guaranteed rates that promise to cut the cost of the work by about 10 per cent. The contract also includes a binding agreement on working practices and monitoring arrangements that should result in an improved service.
Councillor Peter Murphy, FDC’s portfolio holder responsible for the environment, said: “This contract means that we are effectively getting more for less. TLG are an excellent company and we are looking forward to working very closely with them to ensure that all our open spaces are maintained to the highest standard.”
Nick Temple-Heald, TLG’s chief executive, said: “We’re delighted to have secured this contract and we’ll be working very hard to deliver a top-quality service for Fenland over the next few years.”
