A PRE-Christmas treat is in store for rail enthusiasts on Saturday when a vintage steam train will be making a brief stop at March station.
The arrival of the Oliver Cromwell, Britannia Class Pacific steam locomotive 70013, at 7.40am will be the highlight of an open morning being held to raise money for the restoration of some of the station rooms and to encourage new members to join the Friends of March Railway Station.
The event, from 7.30–9am, will also feature a model railway exhibition, tombola and a sale of railway memorabilia.
Mince pies and hot drinks will be served on platform 1.
