VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help run a new website giving residents in Wisbech and surrounding villages a greater say in improving services in their neighbourhood.

The website, www.shapeyourplace.org, has been launched by the Rosmini Centre in Wisbech. The first of its kind in Cambridgeshire, it allows residents to report issues directly to Fenland District Council, Cambridgeshire County Council, the police and the fire service, who will provide a response about how the problem will be tackled.

Residents will be able to highlight a variety of problems, ranging from anti-social behaviour and road and transport issues to fly tipping and alcohol problems. They will also be able to join other neighbours in online conversations and read blogs about community events.

The Rosmini Centre has been commissioned to run the site by Cambridgeshire County Council. Anita Grodkiewicz, the centre’s manager, said: “We want all the communities to become involved in shapeyourplace.org, whether that’s posting an issue, discussing topics of local concern or by becoming a volunteer.”

Shapeyourplace.org will subsequently be rolled out to the rest of Fenland over the next six months.

Anyone keen to volunteer should call the Rosmini Centre on 01945 474422 or email rcw_manager@btconnect.com
