A day of activities at a country park raised £220 for a greyhound sanctuary.

Kama’s Cave Greyhound Sanctuary, based at Holbeach Drove. held an event at Ferry Meadows Country Park in Peterborough, which included walks of the park, a tombola and goods for sale.

One of the greyhounds that took part, five year-old Syd, who is still looking for a home, came along from the kennels for a day out.

The sanctuary’s next big event is the Great British Greyhound Walk on June 22 at Ferry Meadows.

It is a nationwide event promoting retired ex-racing greyhounds as great pets.

Lorraine Bullman, who volunteers at Kama’s Cave and is their walk organiser, said: “This is the first time I have arranged a walk for GBGW and we are hoping for a huge turnout of local sighthounds.

“The idea of the walk is to particularly celebrate retired racing greyhounds, to raise awareness and promote them as wonderful family pets once their racing days are over.”

Sanctuary representatives will be there from 10am and the walk will take place at 11am.
