Live reindeer will again be on view in Museum Square, entertainers will stroll the streets and Fenland’s schoolchildren will sing carols.

The market starts at 9am, with the official grand opening by Wisbech Mayor Councillor Samantha Hoy and MP Steve Barclay due to take place at 11am, and continues until 4.30pm.

A free park and ride service will be available from Elme Hall Hotel/Morrison’s bus stop from 10am to 4pm.

Councillor Pop Jolley, Fenland District Council’s Cabinet member responsible for markets and events, hopes the market will build on the success of March’s first Christmas market, which saw thousands of people pour into the town.

He said: “Sunday’s Christmas Market in March was brilliant, a terrific boost for the whole town.

“So now we’re hoping for the same thing in Wisbech, with everyone enjoying a great day out and really getting into the Christmas spirit.”
