A summer fete held at March Catholic church has raised over £1,500 towards its ambitious project to upgrade the church hall.

Saturday’s warm sunshine attracted an excellent crowd to the event on Saturday and Lesley Kennedy, who organised it with the help of Caroll Campey and Mike Green, was delighted by its success.

“The weather was really good and we had a lot of traditional game stalls which I think really appealed to people who came along to enjoy an afternoon in the sunshine. Normally when I organise anything it rains, so it was nice to have such good weather,” said Mrs Kennedy.

The Catholic church is trying to raise around £100,000 to refurbish the hall with a new kitchen and other facilities and have so far raised around £70,000 since the fund was launched almost two years ago.
