FIREFIGHTERS carried out their second horse rescue in two days in Bottisham on Sunday afternoon.
One crew from Cambridge, one crew from Burwell and a rescue vehicle from Cambridge were called to reports of a large male horse stuck on a bar inside a horsebox at the junction of Newmarket Road and Little Wilbraham Road on the A1303 at 4.40pm.
A vet sedated the animal and firefighters used specialist animal rescue techniques and equipment to rescue the horse. Crews returned to their stations by 5.55pm.
ON Saturday morning fire crews from two stations spent two hours freeing a horse stuck in a dyke near to the Three Pickerels pub, in Bridge Road, Mepal.
The horse was stuck under a bridge with reeds encasing its legs.
