Fenland firefighters are teaming up with fundraisers to raise cash in memory of Manea man Aaron Mayes.
Drivers in and around Manea are encouraged to pop along to a charity car wash on Saturday, April 18, from 9am until midday at the village’s Rose and Crown pub, in the High Street.
The event is being organised by the on-call crew from Manea Fire Station, who have teamed up with fundraising group Team A-Mayesing to raise funds for MIND and The Fire Fighters Charity.
Watch Commander Mark Milner said: “Towards the end of last year local young man Aaron Mayes, who was well known to the crew and residents of Manea, sadly took his own life following a history of mental health problems.
“We were asked by fundraisers from Team A-Mayesing if the crew from Manea would hold a car wash and we were more than happy to help.
“Our firefighters will be teaming up to scrub cars with volunteers from Team A-Mayesing throughout the morning for these two worthy causes.”
Team A-Mayesing also has its own donation page if anyone wishes to make a contribution: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserProfilePage.action?userUrl=a-mayesing
Manea is recruiting on-call firefighters and anyone interested can pop along to the event to have a chat with the crew.
