Firefighters were called to a car fire on the A141, just past the Cattery at Warboys, on Thursday evening.
Wearing breathing apparatus, the crew used two hose reels to extinguish the fire and returned to their station by 9.46pm.
The road was closed in both directions for a short time before firefighters reopened one lane.
The cause of the fire was accidental.
