AT the final assembly of the summer term in 1967, Morris Kidd retired after being a teacher at Chatteris Cromwell School for 20 years.

He was thanked by headmaster David Cooper for his interest and assistance to the school and to the Old Scholars' Association, of which he was treasurer.

Mr Kidd was presented with a hand-made mahogany coin collector's box with a silver inscription plate recording the appreciation of his service to the school.

He also received an original cartoon, autographed by the staff.

The cartoon was the work of W J Redhead, head of the school's art department.

Representing the Old Scholars' Association were Joan Few, Annie Edgley and Jane Tate.
