A local goal-scoring duo have put their talents to good use by raising £400 for the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough.

Brothers Oliver and Ellis Frances, who play for local sides Ramsey Tigers and Ramsey Colts, decided to convert their goals into cash by donating £1 for every strike they netted last season.

The duo notched almost 90 goals between them, and, with the help of their family, donated the impressive sum to the Hospice which supported their grandfather, John, until his death last year.

The boys’ dad, Trevor, said: “We are all so proud of their achievement, thoughtfulness and determination.

“Both boys made every effort to score as many goals as they could so they could raise as much as possible.

“Being charitable boys that take part in a lot of fundraisers, they were really happy to do something for such a good cause in memory of their granddad.”
