A FORMER carer has started her own business offering beauty therapy to care homes and hospices after getting sick of temporary jobs.

Sammi Howie started B Pampered by Sammi with the help from the Prince’s Trust, who offer practical and financial support to young people to enable them to get into work, training or education,

B Pampered is a mobile service offering massages, body waxing, tanning, manicures and pedicures to everyone but it is primarily aimed at care homes, hospices and charities.

She said: “I take a lot of time and attention over my customers and I know there are people stuck in care homes or home-bound who like to get pampered but either can’t afford it or simply can’t get to a salon and I can offer them a good service at discounted rates.

“I want to go to care homes because, as a former carer, I am used to talking to people with Alzheimer’s and dementia and know they too want to look good if they want to go anywhere or see their families.”

Mrs Howie, who has worked in a mushroom factory and a cal centre, enjoyed a make up course when she was 16 and decided to return after settling down from her wilder years as a teen when she got married and had a son.

When she got into training the 26-year-old therapist couldn’t get enough of learning and is now going on to study a NVQ Level Three enabling her to give hot stone therapy and eyelash extensions to her customers.
