FORMER Fenland District Council chairman Pam Potts received the British Empire Medal at a ceremony at Peterborough Town Hall.
The award, announced in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, was conferred by Hugh Duberly, the lord lieutenant.
Mrs Potts, a councillor for 20 years and also the first mayor of Whittlesey, was given the award for services to the community within the Fenland area.
Peterborough MP Stewart Jackson tweeted during the day that it was “nice to see Fenland’s indefatigable Pam Potts receive the BEM”.
