FORMER Fenland Council leader Alan Melton has won a top job instructing other local authorities on how they can improve.
Cllr Melton is a Tory nomination to become a Lead Member Peer for the Government's Improvement and Development Agency.
He will be one of only four Conservatives out of a total of 14 councillors appointed to the post of ensuring councils comply with all aspects of their duties.
Council Leader Geoff Harper said: "Alan's appointment follows an extensive selection process and is based on his experience as a former leader of Fenland District Council and in recognition of his record in local government at all levels.
