AFTER 44 years as a qualified dispenser, Frank Onyon decided to call it a day in 1974 and retire from the job he loved.
Mr Onyon, 65, worked for 42 years at Boots the Chemists, in High Street, March. He lived in Deerfield Road.
After leaving school, Mr Onyon took a four-year apprentice course in dispensing in his home town of Sleaford. He joined the Boots branch in Sleaford before moving to March in 1932 - the year Boots opened in the town.
During the war, he continued his vocation by serving in the medical section of the RAF for more than four years.
Mr Onyon said when he retired: "Today there are whole new styles of techniques in dispensing. Medicines come pre-packed whereas we used to have to mix them up ourselves."
With his wife Kathleen, Mr Onyon planned to spend his retirement in March. He was presented with a cheque on behalf of the directors.
