THE French are coming in force to Wisbech and March, to stage a monster market next Friday (June 15) and Sunday (June 17).

They are teaming up with English traders and farmers in Wisbech to create a huge market extravaganza.

It will operate in Wisbech on the Friday and in March on the Sunday, offering a huge range of French delicacies and the best of British produce. It is definitely an event not to be missed if you love good food.

In Wisbech the event is so large that it has meant some traffic restrictions. There will be no traffic around the Market Place and no access to it from Market Street. However, traffic will still be able to move freely from Hill Street through to High Street.

The hugely popular Brunomart French Market was able to come to Wisbech and March after Fenland District Council joined forces with counterparts in South Holland. The French market will be in the Sheepmarket, Spalding, on Saturday June 16.

Previous French markets have proved hugely popular, generating business for local shopkeepers and boosting the local economy.

Portfolio holder with responsibility for markets, Councillor Peter Murphy, said: "The French market is always a big draw for shoppers and this large one promises to be even more popular. Fenland Council has teamed up with South Holland District Council to bring this monster event to Fenland.
