Emergency services were called to Forty Foot Bank this morning after a yellow fuel bowser was discovered in the river.

Police and firefighters attended the scene on Friday, October 12 and searched the area for any vehicles that could have been carrying the bowser.

The Environment Agency has been alerted.

A fuel bowser is used to transport fuel and is carried on the back of a small trailer. They are worth as much as £3,000 when bought brand new.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Constabulary said: “Officers along with Cambs Fire and Rescue Service were called to the Forty Foot Bank Chatteris after a fuel bowser was seen in the river this morning.

“Area also checked for any vehicles. Environment Agency have been called in relation to the item.”
