Two schools in Whittlesey are among the first to receive new sports gear and free sports tuition thanks to a community fund.
Alderman Jacobs and New Road have been given football equipment and free sports tuition thanks to money from The Burnt House Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund. The money given from the fund ranges from £250 to £6,000.
The fund is for helping people who live in Whittlesey, Turves, Eastrea, Benwick, Coates, Wimblington, Doddington and the parts of March which are within a five-mile radius of the Burnthouse Farm Wind Farm.
The schools are receiving a sack of new footballs, marker cones, bibs and a ball pump. Additional items including portable goals have also been bought to enhance students’ experience at the schools.
Robert Windle, of the Peterborough and Fenland Referee Development Scheme, said: “I am visiting schools to provide tuition in key topics such as respect, sportsmanship and fair play with an understanding of the match official role.”
