Hundreds of bikers and their families helped to raise money for a March-based charity at the third Funder in the Fens event.
Boosting funds for FACET to build an outside classroom for adults with learning disabilities, Long Sutton Barns on Wisbech Road was filled with leather-clad tattooed bikers and rows of Harley Davidson’s and Triumph motorbikes as campers pitched up their tents.
Organised by Alf and Annie Ladd, who run Top Joint Motorcycles, the weekend-long fundraiser featured live music, plenty of ale thanks to Tydd Steam Brewery and even archery sessions.
There were also independent stalls, a raffle with almost 100 donated prizes, trophies given out for best bike and best paintwork and homemade cakes for sale.
On Friday Tori Lamour and Ned Kelly’s Ambush provided Friday evening’s entertainment before ska band The Cherry Reds, Emneth-based soloist Dan the D and covers rock band LowDown performed on Saturday night.
Annie said: “We’ve done it for the last two years and it’s going really well. It started off very small but it’s grown thanks to huge support from far and wide.
“Robert Gent supplied the trailer at the last minute for the bands to perform on, and the generator was loaned by JA Collisons. Dave also supplied some acoustic entertainment on Saturday night and Dan Baker sponsored the porta cabins.
“We’d like to say thank you to Snowy and Joe – the DJ and sound man - we couldn’t do it without them. They have enabled everything.
“The prizes were donated by stall holders and attendees. Lots of friends and members of the biking community and Gent stepped in at the last minute to supply the trailer for the bands to perform on.
“FACET are a really great bunch and we wanted to help them out. Fantastic support from all.”
