HEAD-DRESSES and drums filled the classrooms of Westwood Junior School as a slice of Native American life came to March.

The charity event raised around £1,000 to help children in Native America afford basics such as clothes, food and education.

More than 100 people flocked to the March school throughout the day to enjoy the storytelling and flute-playing and inspect the native jewellery and artwork that was on show.

Explanations were given on different types of Native American dress and dance, while the event finished with a spectacular drumming performance.

Teresa Monique, from March, said: “It was an amazing day and the feedback we have had has been absolutely brilliant. It was all to show off the Native American culture and their spiritual beliefs.”
