This year the theme was the armed forces which inspired many to don period costumes as the walking parade made its way to the Furrowfields Recreation Ground.
But as the parade ended and the spitfire went over the town the heavens opened dampening the spirits of the crowds.
Chatteris Town Council clerk Joanna Melton said; “Everything went ahead as planned but sadly the rain put a lot of people off from coming out.
“A big thankyou must be said to everybody who supported the weekend - without all the helpers and volunteers we would never pull it off.”
The weekend began with the schools living history displays the day before and moved through to Saturday’s parade and colourful historic re-enactments at the recreation ground.
The weekend also celebrated the return of the Party in the Park which went ahead in a marquee as the rain continued.
Competitors enjoyed the It’s a Knockout competition with the Discover your Mojo team beating their rivals from the Sportsman.
“People did it barefoot in the mud, they were determmined to still go ahead!
“It was still a great community event with a lot of support and a lot of fun,” said Mrs Melton.
