Charity car washes across the county – including Wisbech- raised nearly £1,300 when firefighters soaped up their sponges on Saturday (Sep 21).
Firefighters and volunteers at Cambridge, Ramsey and Wisbech fire stations hosed down hundreds of dirty cars as residents came out to support the event.
Matt Beare, a firefighter at Wisbech Fire Station, said their event was also a great success, raising £286.
He added: “Thank you to all the local residents who came out to support the cause and to the volunteers who gave up their time on the day to tirelessly wash cars.”
Three hours of scrubbing at cars raised a further £101 at Ramsey Fire
Station.
Cambridge topped £1,000 with their efforts.
