Students sang, danced and played instruments to a sell out crowd at a Fenland college’s Winter Showcase yesterday.

The festive night of entertainment saw pupils at Cromwell Community College, Chatteris, take to the stage.

The school’s orchestra performed Christmas classics while two rock bands did their thing.

There was even a rap solo and a drama monologue.

The evening was organised by teachers Eve Rudd and Corinna Holdaway.

Mrs Holdaway said: “It was my first concert as head of music and the students were absolutely brilliant.

“Nearly 100 students took part and there must have been more than 200 people watching.

“They represented themselves and the college really well.

“There was real variety - we had an orchestra, rock bands, choirs, soloists, rappers, dancers and drama monologues.

“Our next big show will hopefully be a musicals themed night in the Spring.”
