Large crowds lined the banks of The Bower in Whittlesey to watch the annual Mayor’s Duck Race.
One thousand ducks were released by the Mayor of Whittlesey Councillor David Mason into the water by the side of the Hero of Aliwal.
David Belfield’s duck crossed the finishing line first, landing a £50 prize.
The race raised £800, which will be split between the Whittlesey branch of the Royal British Legion, Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall and Whittlesey Emergency Food Aid.
Councillor Mason said: “Quite a lot of people turned up, particularly since it was very cold. “The ducks floated along at a very moderate pace. Two broke away from the pack and David’s duck won by a beak.”
